What we think needs changing
We think the pet buying industry is broken. We're sick of hearing stories of pets being stolen, of malnourished puppies being sold, of puppies being sold earlier than they should be, of breeders selling the wrong breed. This shouldn't be happening.

Like so many people in the world, we bought our 1st puppy during lockdown and we were shocked at how unregulated the process was. We felt unsafe, we saw scared puppies being sold with no Mum around and we couldn't help but think that something needed to change.

PetPledge has been a long time coming. It's the shot in the arm that the industry needs. We demand higher standards to ensure the safety of every single pet sold on our website. We won't settle for anything less than the best and we don't want you to either.

How we're changing the industry
Microchip ID Checks
If you're selling a puppy or a dog, you should have a microchip ID. We're not content with simply being given a number. We want to go a step further and verify that the Microchip ID we've been given is valid by cross checking it against national databases. No Microchip ID? No listing!
Breeder Licence Checks
Did you know that if your breeder is a breeder by trader or plans on breeding 3 or more litters a year then they should have a licence? This is a vital process designed to safeguard our pets as licensed breeders are required to meet standards. We'll check all breeder licence numbers with local authorities.
Kennel Club Checks
Buying from a Kennel Club assured breeder is a fantastic idea as these breeders will be following the breeding best practices put in place by the renowned Kennel Club. If a breeder says that they're Kennel Club assured then we'll cross reference this for you so you don't have to.
Litter Restrictions
Each litter of puppies listed will have to be linked to the Microchip ID of their Mum to protect against the sale of stolen dogs and to protect against overbreeding. We won't allow more than 4 litters to be listed from the same Mum in order to try to safeguard their welfare.
Buyer and Seller Profiles
Other pet listing websites may be happy with just generic listing information being provided but we're not. By having detailed buyers and sellers profiles, we want to ensure that all pets end up in their forever home. Think Tinder, but connecting pets and their forever homes!
ID Verification
This is vital. There are too many stolen dogs being sold and we think it's because current websites don't do enough to prevent it. All users on our site will have to show verification confirming who their ID and address. This will help to ensure the safety of everyone involved.

How does it work?
Account Creation
Create an account to buy or sell a pet. This will help us match qualified buyers to qualified sellers. Want to buy a Great Dane but live in a 1 bed flat in London with no garden? We'll let the breeder know!
ID Verification
ID, address, microchip verification to keep everyone safe! Pets can only be bought or sold after we've checked everything we need to.

You've signed up and you've been verified. Now comes the fun part! List your pet for sale or start your search. Search by breed, location, exercise characteristics and more!
Found a match? Send a message!
Reach out to the seller of the pet in question to set up a convenient time to meet and see if it's a good fit. Don't purchase a pet without seeing it first!
Meet your new pet and the seller
This is your time to ask any questions, view any important documents and really get to know your potential new pet. Remember to come armed with questions!
Everything in order? It's GO TIME!
If you're satisfied that everything in order then it's time to pay for your pet! Make the payment in full via our website and you can be 100% sure that your money is safe.
Confirm Exchange
It's time to pick up your pet! We're still holding your money and will only release it to the seller when you've both confirmed that it's safe to do so.
